Today was a really hot day and I thought that the local video store would be a nice place to "hide out" for the afternoon since I thought they had to have air conditioning, right? Though, we do have A/C at home but because of all the media scares about electricity bills going up by 100% or something, we're trying to keep the bills as low as possible XD
I went to the same video store last fortnight and their air conditioning was great but unfortunately this time there seemed to be a problem with their hardware and the store was so enclosed with the low ceilings that the temperature inside was even hotter than outside.
I found that it was way too hot to even walk let alone think about what film to rent so I went to another two video stores in the district, hoping and praying that their A/C was working. Thankfully, they were and I spent a good hour or so inside cooling off ^^ the bad thing was that their prices to rent films were too expensive. After strolling for a bit, I decided to go back to the first video store (the "scorcher" house), it was hot BUT anything to save money, right?!
Trying to find a film to rent in the sizzling hot temperature was not easy. I had two films in mind that I really wanted to rent but was unable to find it on the shelves. It's annoying when the video shelves are always so disorganised, you have a 50% chance of finding what you want (maybe even less). Another thing that I noticed were the overhead TVs that played previews of DVDs - a DVD was put in but the store attendant forgot to press "Play" on the DVD menu so I ended up listening to the DVD menu music loop over and over and over and over...again. Relief at last when someone pressed "Play" 30 mins later, I was on the verge of doing something crazy ><;
I mulled over the shelves for about 30 mins before going to the counter and asking the teenager with a name tag about the availability of the two films. I really don't think there's such a thing called "customer service" anymore, it just doesn't exist. The girl was sighing and grunting as she was sorting out DVD cases and I think I heard her groan at one point...like as if I was asking her to walk the plank or something. Eventually, she dragged herself to the computer and started tapping away. I even had to spell out the title of one of the films to her XD
As fate would have it, both films didn't exist in the record of the store - what a surprise!
Though I swear that I saw one of them the last time I came...
Anyway, I did end up renting a few other films. I have absolutely no idea why most of them are action films since I dislike watching them but I guess I was just in a hurry to get out of the oven/store XD
By then, the temperature was much cooler - mission accomplished!

Speaking of films - I read a
very interesting article just then, supposedly a recent death of a Taiwanese man with high blood pressure was linked to him watching AVATAR in 3D
11 days earlier...I can understand the excitement that you can get from watching 3D films BUT
after 11 days? I don't think any excitement/surprise that I've ever had in my life lasted more than 5 days... XD
