1950s: Smoking in Alice!!

I was feeling bored so I decided to refresh my memory of Alice in Wonderland by watching the cartoon from the 1950s. I fell in love with all the colours and songs once more but I just couldn't help noticing 3 occasions when I saw some of the characters smoking!

The devices used for smoking just got worse and worse!
Here, in order:

  1. Walrus - puffs away on his CIGAR whilst luring the poor little oysters!
  2. Dodo - casually taking a nice break from burning Mr. Rabbit's house with his friendly PIPE!!
  3. Caterpillar - he was clearly taking a "trip" when he was talking to Alice, all thanks to his giant BONG!!!
It's fascinating what you notice when you watch a film!!
You learn so much about the film's context! XD

Video stores & air conditioning
default
[info]43420
Today was a really hot day and I thought that the local video store would be a nice place to "hide out" for the afternoon since I thought they had to have air conditioning, right? Though, we do have A/C at home but because of all the media scares about electricity bills going up by 100% or something, we're trying to keep the bills as low as possible XD

I went to the same video store last fortnight and their air conditioning was great but unfortunately this time there seemed to be a problem with their hardware and the store was so enclosed with the low ceilings that the temperature inside was even hotter than outside.

I found that it was way too hot to even walk let alone think about what film to rent so I went to another two video stores in the district, hoping and praying that their A/C was working. Thankfully, they were and I spent a good hour or so inside cooling off ^^ the bad thing was that their prices to rent films were too expensive. After strolling for a bit, I decided to go back to the first video store (the "scorcher" house), it was hot BUT anything to save money, right?!

Trying to find a film to rent in the sizzling hot temperature was not easy. I had two films in mind that I really wanted to rent but was unable to find it on the shelves. It's annoying when the video shelves are always so disorganised, you have a 50% chance of finding what you want (maybe even less). Another thing that I noticed were the overhead TVs that played previews of DVDs - a DVD was put in but the store attendant forgot to press "Play" on the DVD menu so I ended up listening to the DVD menu music loop over and over and over and over...again. Relief at last when someone pressed "Play" 30 mins later, I was on the verge of doing something crazy ><;

I mulled over the shelves for about 30 mins before going to the counter and asking the teenager with a name tag about the availability of the two films. I really don't think there's such a thing called "customer service" anymore, it just doesn't exist. The girl was sighing and grunting as she was sorting out DVD cases and I think I heard her groan at one point...like as if I was asking her to walk the plank or something. Eventually, she dragged herself to the computer and started tapping away. I even had to spell out the title of one of the films to her XD

As fate would have it, both films didn't exist in the record of the store - what a surprise!
Though I swear that I saw one of them the last time I came...

Anyway, I did end up renting a few other films. I have absolutely no idea why most of them are action films since I dislike watching them but I guess I was just in a hurry to get out of the oven/store XD

By then, the temperature was much cooler - mission accomplished!

---

Speaking of films - I read a very interesting article just then, supposedly a recent death of a Taiwanese man with high blood pressure was linked to him watching AVATAR in 3D 11 days earlier...I can understand the excitement that you can get from watching 3D films BUT after 11 days? I don't think any excitement/surprise that I've ever had in my life lasted more than 5 days... XD

Extremely busy GACKT

So, I was checking out other journals and see what was up with other people lately and many, of course, had commented on the postponement of the tour DVD. It was quite interesting to note that I read somewhere which said that this postponement was a "sign" that GACKT was very busy....

GACKT is too busy with other tasks that he cannot finish the DVD?

These so called "other tasks" MUST include his newest "recommendation" for "original DEARS goods" that are overpriced and are, frankly, utterly useless (except for the 2010 filofax IF it arrives before the end of 2010...) - indeed, thinking up new products to palm off to fans is certainly a heavy task...XD

Edit:
Another "important" task that's keeping him busy is the "Touch the Numbers" game that constantly resurfaces on his blog. You couldn't possibly put aside a few minutes from playing that game (and blogging your experience & going to all the trouble of getting another camera to take a picture of your iPhone AND THEN uploading to your computer THEN to your website and THEN clicking "Post to blog" AND <insert other steps needed by GACKT to show the world he's busy playing Touch the Numbers>.....XD) to work on the DVD that fans have been waiting for since your "10th anniversary", can you??

Busy, busy GACKT, eh?

*sarcastic* I sooo didn't see that coming...

VISUALIVE DVD postponed for the third time

Proposed release date: 27/1/2010

NEW release date: 31/3/2010

*********** uncontrollable sarcasm ahead *********

hmm....nice one DEARS...real nice...

I see a pattern going on here...the delays always extend by two months!

I got a good idea DEARS', how about we extend it till next December??
Then you can release it together with PLATINUM BOX XI as a bundle....AGAIN!!!

Thank you DEARS for screwing with us for the first, no, second, NO, THIRD....time!!!!!!

*********** somewhat calmed down ***************

Am I the only one or "unreasonable" to think that taking nearly 6 months (or more...including the time before the first delay) to develop a concert DVD is ludicrous?

Forgive me if I've misunderstood anything but I can't imagine what task could be involved in the "development" process that could take that much time when the concert has already taken place & the footage is recorded......I'd imagine that the cutting and editing process to take quite some time but not months and months...XD

So...everyone who pre-ordered this "thing" has been taken for a looooong ride.

How about DEARS refund my money and mail the cheque to the Haiti relief groups - at least then, I'd know that my money has not been wasted.
